Voice readout: hear the scouting report

Have your overlay read the pre-game scouting report aloud, plus match start, match end and cheese alerts, in a voice that works inside OBS.

Updated For streamers

Voice readout speaks through your overlay in OBS, so you hear the scouting report at the start of a game without looking away, for example Facing Maru, Terran. 6720 MMR. You're 3 and 1 against them. It uses the speech voices built into your computer: nothing is generated by AI.

Set it up

  1. Open Settings → Voice and turn on Enable voice readout.
  2. Pick a Voice. The list only shows voices that also work inside OBS and Streamlabs, labelled by gender.
  3. Set Rate, Pitch, Volume and Delay before speaking, then press Hear the OBS version to hear exactly what your stream will hear.
  4. Under Events to announce, choose what it reads: Scouting report (pre-game) is on by default; Match start, Match end and Cheese detected are off.
  5. Press Save changes, then make sure the Scouting tells widget, or the all-in-one overlay, is in OBS. That's the source that speaks; see OBS overlay setup.

Automatic game-start scouting plays once per game across your connected Browser Sources and desktop Companion. The first reader ready to speak handles the report using its saved voice. In Companion, Read report now repeats the current report when you request it.

Read your opponent notes aloud

On an opponent's dossier, turn on Read notes aloud next to your scouting notes. The next time you face them, the scouting report includes Opponent note: followed by your notes. It needs Scouting report (pre-game) on. See Opponent dossier.

If you hear nothing

  • Browsers only allow speech after a click. The first time, the overlay shows a banner: right-click the Browser Source in OBS, choose Interact, and click once.
  • Voice blocked by your browser in Settings means the same thing for the preview: press Retry now.
  • A voice named Google … or … Online (Natural) only exists in your browser, not in OBS. Settings warns you and offers Use that voice everywhere to switch to one OBS can use.
  • With Control audio via OBS ticked on the Browser Source, the voice plays through OBS's audio mixer: check it isn't muted there, and turn on monitoring if you want to hear it yourself.
